Well, this was yet another wasted weekend. Well, almost. I did get a tiny bit of stuff done. I got my kitchen cleaned up, AGAIN. One of the horrors of having a smallish kitchen, is it gets messy and out of control in like, five minutes. And, I finally got out the wood filler that I bought and made repairs to the bookcase I picked up on the side of the road a few years ago, got the top finished, sanded, and painted, now I'm partially finished with the second shelf. The lavender color I picked out came across nicely. I'm excited to see the final product.
And I'm totally torn up and sad about my doggie, Auggie. He's a miniature dachshund that we adopted from a young couple who had adopted him from the Humane Society after his owner died, or went to the nursing home or something. He was fed table scraps, and was obese, which caused all kinds of problems with his back. Since we adopted him 4 years ago it's "gone out" twice, causing paralysis of the back legs and tail. But with TLC and medications he was back on his feet in a matter of weeks. This time, though, has been different. No paralysis, which means the pain he is in seems to be constant. He "yelps" with certain movements and position changes. He's not eating well, and losing weight quickly. It's been 2 weeks, with little to no improvement, and I just don't know when it's time to give up. The thought of putting him down is killing me, but I know I can't just let him live in pain. We have no idea how old he really is, and I just don't know if he's got it in him to come back from this one.
Not a happy situation. It's gonna be a long week for Penelope.
